FAQ
Your questions, answered
The questions English learners ask most, answered simply. Don't see yours? Just ask.
How can I remember new words?
Learning a word isn't enough - you have to use it. We bring new words back into conversation on purpose, in different sentences, until they feel like yours. Repetition in real speech is what makes vocabulary stick.
How do I actually use the words I learn in a lesson?
We build them into speaking right away. A word you only read is easy to forget; a word you say out loud a few times, in real conversation, becomes part of how you talk.
How do I stop using the same few words over and over?
We gently expand your range - swapping in synonyms and new phrases during conversation, and noticing when an old habit-word pops up. Little by little, your vocabulary opens up.
How do I stop thinking and translating in my native language?
This is one of the most common struggles - and yes, it can be fixed. Through regular, relaxed conversation and the right kind of practice, your brain slowly shifts from translating to simply speaking. I went through this myself, so we'll work on it step by step.
What's the difference between Past Simple and Present Perfect?
Past Simple is for finished actions at a specific time ("I visited Rome in 2019"). Present Perfect links the past to now, often without a specific time ("I've visited Rome" - at some point, and it still matters now). We practice this until it feels natural.
How long will it take to see progress?
It depends on your starting level, your goals, and how often we practice - but with regular lessons, most students feel more confident speaking within a few weeks. Progress shows up in real conversation and in your homework.
Do I need to be at a certain level to start?
Roughly low-intermediate (B1) and up works best. If you're not sure of your level, that's exactly what the free intro call is for.
Are you a native English speaker?
No - English is my second language, and I think that's an advantage for you. I've walked the same path, so I understand the exact struggles you're facing, and I speak with a clear, American-style accent.
What happens in the intro consultation?
It's a free, relaxed 15-minute call. We talk about your goals, get a sense of your level, and figure out the best way to work together. No pressure to commit.
Which platform do we use for lessons?
Lessons are held on Zoom, and Google Meet is also an option.
